Step 1: Try. The fear of failure so often keeps us from reaching out in the first place, and that's the biggest failure of all. This leads to isolation and stagnation, since as social creatures, we need that feedback from others to prove that we are loved. Those we love most are not the most perfect, but those who make us feel understood. The charm of a child is in his capacity to make, and learn from, mistakes. Mistakes are proof that we have room to grow, a place to go, and that we are human.
